You can now buy, from FLO, a new Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro mount with Rowan Belt Mod Upgrade kit already fitted. 

We also offer the pre-fitted upgrade together with a regrease and tune - the wheel and worm gears are removed, cleaned, regreased then refitted. Backlash is adjusted to the minimum necessary to function. (Mounts using the Worm & Wheel system require some backlash).

About this second option, the clean, regrease & adjustment. Is it necessary? Probably not. The days when you might find swarf particles and thick black gluey grease in a HEQ5 are long gone (Sky-Watcher's manufacturing has improved significantly over the years). But we are occasionally asked for a clean & regrease so we offer the service. Important to note over 90% of the improvement comes from the Rowan upgrade alone because the mount's middle transfer gear (it's periodic error is out of phase with the worm error) and the pinion motor's 12-tooth gear (adds a slight ripple that can be difficult to guide out) are both removed. And, of course, the Rowan Belt Mod upgrade eliminates the grinding chatter that comes from the mount's original spur gears.

All backordered Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro mounts with Rowan upgrades were dispatched yesterday for delivery today ? 

HEQ5 mounts with Rowan upgrade plus re-grease & tune are being dispatched today for delivery tomorrow. 

We are now installing Rowan upgrades every week so should always be able to dispatch one within 1 week of receiving an order.
