Is Celestron C6 SC with f6.3 reducer ok for DSO imaging?

Is it necessary to use reducer for planetary imaging with this telescope?

Hi @andy123 and welcome to SGL. :hello2:

The purpose of the reducer is to trick your f10 C6 SCT into thinking it is an f6.3 'scope, therefore speeding up the exposure time... or something like that. I cannot remember how it does it, but this guy does --->

It reduces the light cone down so in effect reduces the focal length of the scope.. what you t is it on the original az mount?

The C6 is mounted on HEQ5 pro

I've have experience imaging with lenses and APO telescopes. I don't know if its worth getting the reducer for the C6

Hi, Andy!

I could not get mine singing. Stars are not looking good not very far away from the center. I tried it once or twice and that was it.

Should work OK once you get the spacing right, it works better with smaller sensors avoiding the corners.

For planetary you need the opposite ie a Barlow of some sort.

I use a c8 and it's well worth getting the reducer/flattener
