Finderscope for Mak?

Recommended Posts

For a mainly planetary scope I prefer a 9x50 RA finder as it allows you to get spot on a target better than a red dot finder. For DSOs where you just have to be about in the right place a red dot is fine and maybe even easier.

Your Mak will have a narrow field of view so a 9x50 RACI would be a good way of allowing you to see more of the sky ad stars that are not visible to the naked eye to help find your way around. A Rigel Quickfinder added to that set-up to allow you to hone in on your target would be a good addition.

I use a 9x50 RACI modified to be a finder guider with my QY5l-iic. I connect to PHD for a visual o/p, not guiding. I find I can then use this to bring the target into the field of view of the ASI224 and firecapture with relative ease.
