Sunshine
I need some advice from imagers please, would this camera have a large enough chip, to allow me to capture full solar disc through my Lunt 60 with B1200 filter?. Also, if using it for planetary, is it possible to take get color images using RGB filters?. I have no idea, it may be a dumb question but I though I read that somewhere, that color from a mono camera is achieved by imaging separate RGB captures. Anthonyexmouth
no, wouldnt quite fit. if you can use a .5 focal reducer it would fit. but a solar imager will let you know if thats possible
JamesF
Looks like the Lunt 60 has a 500mm focal length, so your image scale would be just under 415 arcseconds per mm. The Sun is about 30 arcminutes or 1800 arcseconds across, so the image size on the sensor will be about 4.3mm (assuming I've done all my maths correctly). As Anthony says, that means the 290MM sensor is too small. You'd need to make a two-panel mosaic or use a camera with a bigger sensor.
