Hi everyone,

Am I the only one who can't access astrobuysell? It asks me for a membership number before I proceed to the homepage. Is it because I'm outside the UK? I've always had trouble with this although sometimes I have been given access. Is there something I can do to look at all the goodies?

i've only ever had to log on to post ads , never read them. 

 

i can also browse the Oz and Canadian one without login details

I've only ever used the .com/uk/ one. Just checked my bookmark lists.

I've never visited the .co.uk one before.

Well astrobuysell.com doesn't want me to look. Maybe the wife has had a word with them.

the .co.uk seems to only have a few very old adverts - but I've been down the route of trying to solve web problems many times before discovering that I'm looking at different things to my aged parents

 Just had a look. Never visited or heard of the .co.uk site before. The .com/uk/ site has been about since the dawn of time.

The  Astrobuysell.com is the original and best one. The other one seems to have virtually copied the name of the original and seems to be trying to cash in on the reputation of the original and does seem to have a lot of old ads.

If no-one can figure out out the problem, perhaps an email to the owner/webmaster might help...

Do you get any error message ?    It looks to be hosted on a shared server so I can see that some antivirus things might block it if there has been a problem with anything else on the same ip

I get a little window saying- your connection to this site is not private and it asks for my user name and password. 

I just wondered, that's all. A lot of people here recommend it so I didn't think it was just for a limited membership. Strange.

Sounds more like the problem is with your browser settings rather than Astrobuysell or might be malware.

Shouldn’t be asking for info that’s simply not required in the first place.

Yes it might be. It's just strange that doesn't happen with any other website.

The .com site works for me at the moment from Spain, using Firefox on Linux.  Could be worth trying a different browser?  Could be that the site owners have taken exception to some Czech networks because of abuse perhaps.

Thanks. I just tried it on microsoft edge and it told me that astrobuysell had blocked me because of my IP address. Ho hum. Never mind, I just like looking at gear when it's cloudy (an unhealthy pastime I know). Thanks for your time and help everybody.

Update- It gives me access if I use a vpn. I hope that's not considered dishonest. At least I know why I don't have access.

Does sound like some Czech netblocks have been banned for some reason then.  If you have a fixed IP address perhaps they'd make an exception for your address if you contacted them.

Yes. In Microsoft Edge it did suggest contacting the site. Thanks again. A mystery solved.
