It is almost been two years since I completed building of my roll-off shed, and I decided to share with you some pictures from building time. Although it is hard to say it is completed, because every some time I am making some small changes or improvements :) I wanted to make my astro life easier a long time ago, so I started with building a permanent concrete pier. It was already a nice add-on that spare me a lot of time.

But after two years of having a pier I started with roll-off shed. I already had some painted boards (18mm thick) that I used for covering the walls. For construction I used 10x10cm bars that I ordered at carpenter (he cut them according to the dimensions I gave him). Having in mind the maximum telescope I plan (12 inches) I have chosen shed dimensions 240x240cm square. It should allow some space inside for casual visual observations as well.

As you can see there is quite a lot of trees around my backyard, so the horizon is not quite clear. But the comfort of having observatory next to home compensates this nuisance. I will not describe in details every step - the construction is pretty simple and I think all important aspects are visible at images.

Construction took me about 2 months, but it was afternoon work. Total cost is hard to estimate, because I already have some of the elements - but roughly saying all the materials used for building would be around 500 EUR. The roof is covered with bituminous tiles, but I think I do not have any image from this last step. It is however visible at the first image in this post :)

As I mentioned before - the shed is already two years old and all seems to work fine. It made my life much easier, and now I can catch every hour or two of clear sky :)
