Pete Presland

Venus 15.07.2018

Recommended Posts

Not imaged Venus for a few weeks now. With moon fairly close by I thought I would have a go at Venus up near its transit point. An easy enough find, made even easier by the Moon around 8 degrees away to the right.

I made a canopy under the obsy frame to shelter rom the blistering heat. The seeing was pretty appalling, so I quickly gave up. I did mange to see Venus with the naked for the first in broad daylight.

I returned back to the set up around 6:45, the seeing had improved a lot. There looked some nice detail visible on the live view, so I was quite excited to see the end results.

The usual set up C9.25, asi290mm, Baader UV filter.

I think probably my best Venus this year, not quite as good as I hoped though.

Hopefully as the size grows I might be able to capture some more detail before the phase gets too small.
