Jupiter with GRS and Europa - 8 July 2018

I'm back from my UK break and despite Jupiter now being 2 months past oppostion, I'm still just able to capture it, though I was losing it below my obs wall for the 2nd of the 2 below RGB images.

Between those 2 RGB capture runs I also took a single IR filter run with Europa showing right on Jupiter's limb, as it completed it's transit...

The RGB images are best 20% of each RGB-RGB-RGB filter sequence of 4000 frames per filter for a total of 7200 stacked frames.

The IR image s best 20% (1000) of 5000 frames.

Images graded and stacked in AS3!, wavelets in Registax6, derotate in WinJupos, final adjustments in PS(CS2).

Excellent capture... love it how the 14" SCTs really separate the moons from the planet.

some nice detail captured there, love seeing a moon transit as well.

Excellent late images Geof, lovely transit shots, aperture is king this late on for that extra light grasp!?

BTW which IR filter did you use!

Unfortunately the moon is barely visible in the earlier RGB image, where it looks more like a white spot. I've just processed an IR run that I took at the start of the sesion which shows Europa in transit much more clearly.....

Thanks Simon, yes the C14 certainly does its job ?. I'm using the Astronomic IR PRO 742 filter. Cheers, Geof
