Maybe the dust storm is winding down?

Seeing a bit more surface detail than a week ago.

Let's hope so!

Edit, north at top.

Here's another Mars from 12 July 2018, 0716 UT. This is about the same side of the planet as the earlier image and used very similar capture settings. The processing is a bit different. Does anyone know if the large light area lower right is a dust storm?

Thanks!

Nice shots, mwayne. Looks similar to what I've been able to image. To me, it seems like the storm has softened the polar albedo regions; they don't stand out as much as last week's images. I'm seeing some dark regions peeking through, but the planet still largely looks under the influence of the storm. I'm not giving up hope that we'll be able to see more by the opposition! :D

Nice capture ! What scope did you use ?

It is a Celestron 200mm f/5 Newtonian. Whoever did the final figuring of the mirror is a true craftsperson for sure!
