Hello! I'm new to the astronomy world. It's been a passing interest of mine for a long time. A couple of months ago I binge watched the new Cosmos series on Netflix, and I've been going full-steam-ahead with astronomy ever since! Within the past two weeks, I've visited an observatory twice, joined my local astronomical society, and last night spent three hours with a new pair binocs craning my neck towards the skies. Absolutely amazing!

I figured its' time to hop on the forums, as I'm starting to dig deeper into the science of astronomy, as well as the tools utilized, and I need some education!

Everybody have a good one!

Hi and welcome to SGL.

Binoculars are a great way to start in this hobby. For my first 30 years, I used nothing bigger than a pair of 7x50s - gave me a great grounding in "learning the skies". And set up time is virtually zero.

Enjoy the journey.

Welcome to SGL! Smart to start with joining a club, and getting binos. Hopefully you’ll enjoy every night out and have yourself a new hobby that is one of the best and most relaxing ones you can have (until you get into astrophotography haha). Kidding, that’s also awesome.
