An hour with mars this morning

I finally managed to get myself out of bed for a quick look at Mars this morning. The disc is a good size now, although apart from a polar cap I'm not convinced I could make out any other real detail. I see from other posts there is a bit of a dust storm going on, so that and the fact the scope wasn't cooled didn't help. Still it was good to sit and get an hour or so of observing in before it drifted behind the trees next door. Really looking forward to the next couple of months and trying to sketch a few details when they appear. I remember the 1988 and 2003 oppositions and the thought sets me up for the day.
