M101 Pinwheel Galaxy

Hi All

Here is my first attempt at imaging the Pinwheel Galaxy.

Location: Chalton in Hampshire

Bortle: Class 4

Camera: Canon 600D

Scope: William Optics ZS61

Mount: HEQ5 Pro

Exposures: 30 x 180s, @ ISO800

Capture Software: Backyard EOS

Editing Software: Pixinsight

Right,didnt think it was our bright skies now....roll on the darker nights to try and get any thing close to  this.

Very nice capture. And quite a few background galaxies as well.

There are a few satellite trails in the background. PixInsight has a large scale pixel rejection routine that can take care of these, without sacrificing data (which decreasing the rejection threshold does). Just use a very clean sub as reference.

I do like photos that put objects like this in context. As Wim says, a lot of background galaxies as well. Is the canon modded?
