Sketches of Crescent nebula and Fetus nebula

Hi all,

I made these sketches at the recent Starparty at Kelling.

Both took quite a while as the transparency varied throughout the two evenings I was there (26 and 27th Sept).

Im both cases I used an OIII filter for the nebulae and then removed it to fill in the star fields.

Limiting mag varied, but was around the 6 mark.

Magnification in both cases was x104.

Crescent drawn at 23.00BST 26/9/08

Fetus drawn at 23.23BST 27/9/08

FOV was 31' in both cases.

Thanks for looking.

Stef

Thanks guys. :undecided:

Doc,

Actually these drawings are the inverted image. I use a variety of pencils. The marks are where I've scribbled using a 6B pencil, and then used my smudging stick to dab into it and then spread onto the paper for the nebula.

When I scanned the drawings onto the pc, the scanning wasn't great so I had to use 'Paint' to blacken out some of the sky - as it came out a little grey for some reason?!

For some reason you can't see where I've blackened the sky on my pc at home, but you can see it on my pc at work?!
