Peeping Round the Corner

Recommended Posts

I've got a big soft spot for images near the Moon's south pole as they seem to have a really strong 3D feel.

This image benefits from favourable libration on the 25th of May.

Bottom left is the irregular Klaproth overlapped by later Casatus with two smaller carters visible in it. Moretus has a clear central peak and is north of Short with a central crater.

Next down is Newton, a pretty messy crater named for one of the greats!

The actual south pole at the aptly-named Shackleton Crater (but why not Amundsen?) is in darkness at bottom right beyond the rim of Haworth.
