Extender or barlow?

Recommended Posts

The Tak Q1.6x appears to be a field flattening barlow that filters out UV light as well.  I couldn't figure out if it is telecentric like a Powermate, though.  I've never heard of anyone in the US using one.

They are mainly for FSQ, 106, scopes in this case but show up in the FC system as well.

I've got one. Amazingly engineered - well it is Tak after all! It certainly works with the Tak FS102 and claims it does with other refractors too (see text doc, which also states some claims about its use). It comes with all kinds of rings an adapters to allow it to fit to different scopes in different configurations, which takes a bit of time to work though: you need to study the Tak system chart pertaining to your refractor closely! The section of the left of the photo is the compilation I use with the FS102 and 1.25-inch Tak diagonal.

The Link I gave to the Extender-Q didn't go directly to the pic that I had posted, so I add it below

Presume its this one? http://www.takahashiamerica.com/takahashi-extender-q-16x.html

Tak USA seem the only importer site to make clear its for FC scopes. Europe & UK do not, while True Tech shows TKA36595 instead.

Having checked Takahashi Japan site, this is the Google-translated table of current image.thumb.png.67928a130437e2c8a93c89ec4237e1f6.pngextenders & their suitability for Takahashi telescopes.

So for FC scopes the TOA 1.6x looks best recommended for viewing (rather than AP).
