koopakid
Just wondering if this telescope is ok for a beginner observer, i can see the moon lovely but havent looked for anything else as yet. It was given to me as a present and it has all the magnifiers with it as well, will i need something better in the long run? Just viewing it with family etc for some insight and fun. Mr niall
It’ll work but.. it’s not a great choice for a first telescope. The mount looks so super flimsy and there is literally nothing more frustrating than trying to wrestle with a wobbly mount. Also the aperture is 50mm which is pretty small - you can in fact get a set of binoculars with a 50mm aperture that I could pretty much guarantee would be better quality and give better views of the night sky! The problem with telescopes is that they are delicate creatures and a poor scope will, I promise, put you off astronomy for life! https://www.firstlightoptics.com/all-binoculars/opticron-adventurer-porro-10x50-binoculars.html Something like those would be a more versatile solution for the money. What your maximum budget? If you could double it you could get something that would last you a lifetime... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/all-telescopes/skywatcher-heritage-100p-tabletop-dobsonian.html https://www.firstlightoptics.com/all-telescopes/sky-watcher-capricorn-70-eq1-refractor.html
