130PDS Planetary Imaging

Recommended Posts

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi again,

On Friday night I tried to play with Saturn a bit... He was constantly hiding in the bushes, so all my exposures been interrupted.
Sadly.... But I do not think I can chop bushes even lower... :(

results are.... not what I was expecting...

I like this part the most :)

what cameras have you used? I have a strange impression, the rest Full-scale Moon was done with a different cam.

QHY168C and ASI385MC

I was struggling in between QHY168C and ASI1600MC.

Ended up with 1600MM mono and the empty wallet :)
(filters and etc...).

the QHY168C image a bit confused me... what are these stripes? Never seen anything similar on my CANON and ASI224MC images...
my 1600MM arrived yesterday and I have not tested it on the Moon yet.

My first attempts at Jupiter on the 130 - also on the getting started with imaging/130PDS topic as well, but more suited to this location.

3 x Barlow and ZWO 462MC - 3 min AVI file processed with AS3.

Also, my first ever mosaic (7 panel moon) - slightly clipped (lower right) where I did not overlap them, processed AS3 and stitched (with much room for improvement) in Gimp.

Extremely nice mate! You even managed to shoot down all the Galileos! :)

P.S.
Try to slightly reduce green or simply use the AutoBalance on Registrax as per post below:

Nice shot. How did you stitch using Gimp. I have always struggled.

It is as painful as it sounds. You have to visually line up each image and then use masks to feather the joins. I am still very much a beginner on this - There are some tutorials on youtube which I followed (several times!) to get the end result. On the full size image, there are some visible lines, but I hope as my skills improve I can prevent this in the future.
