An M96 (Lum) and a distant quasar

Recommended Posts

I was hoping to get some colour data for this one to add to the luminance data I took in Feb/Mar. I got a bit, but nowhere near enough, and what I managed to get wasn't particularly good quality...  Reckon I'll be parking this one for the year now  :(

Anyhow, as previously posted in the Deep Sky section, here's M96, with quite a distant QSO (SDSS J104619.26+115223.4) and a much more local dwarf (Leo 15) annotated. The quasar is about mag 20.5 in R band and 11.4 billion light years away (by current theory with redshift z=2.83).

Image details: 350mm Newt (1584mm fl), ST2000XM @ -20C, 84x5min. (22/02/18 and 13-14/03/18)
Reduction/Processing in PI (using some Deconvolution, DBE correction, Masked Stretching, HDR transforms, LHE and noise reduction with TGV).
South is ~ up.
