I popped into Maplins in Doncaster yesterday to see if there were any bargains, and also a nostalgic last visit. I used to go in the Leeds branch with my Dad back in the day.

Sadly they have had trouble competing with online over recent years but always worth a visit for the occasional bargain.

Most of the stock has gone now and they are even selling off the store fittings. They are accepting offers on the display units, shelving, bins etc.

End of an era ?

Yes indeed!  I used to love popping into Maplins and having a good look round.  I have bought a lot of things from them over the years, from when they were just a home front room in deepest Essex to multiple stores throughout the land.  How things change!  First time I built my own desktop PC from parts I got everything from Maplin.
