Issues opening stacked file from DSS in GIMP

Hey guys. I'm having issues opening a stacked DSS file in GIMP. It brings up a grey checked box. What file type should I save the file in DSS? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Same here if I open the autosave image. The trick is to click "save image as..." after stacking it, then the resulting .TIF opens no problems in GIMP.

DSS saves in either 16 bit or 32 bit TIFFs. I believe GIMP can only handle 8 bit TIFFs but can open 16 bit TIFF files, converting them to 8 bit.

Yep. DSS works in 32 bit, and stacked "Autosave" file is 32 bit. Do save file as and it will save 16 bit version. But if doing any changes to RGB levels or brightess or whatever I suggest you do these preliminary changes in DSS whilst its still 32b before you savse as 16b.

FWIW Win 10 will now preview 32bit files from windows explorer - not sure how it manages that, and what use that is, but it does!
