Hi DP

18 x 20 min Ha + 15 x 20 min Oiii.

Yes the dark nebula is quite striking I think. When I initially calibrated the subs my first impression was something wasn't right. But on stacking and stretching the image the dark nebula was revealed.

Nice image Steve.  I have some recent Ha & OIII data from the same object myself for processing and am wondering:

1. Why you chose this mix of Ha and OIII - not just why these %'s but why mix Ha and OIII for what I presume is ultimately an HOO image?  I'm presuming its to enhance detail in the OIII which is otherwise quite weak?

Red = Ha. Green = Oiii * 80% + Ha * 20%. Blue Oiii * 85% + Ha * 15%

2. How do you create these separate mixes? I'm using Photoshop and thinking maybe you're creating separate Ha & OII layers, adjusting the Opacity to the required mix, then merging down?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Graham
