Desiccant Caps

Recommended Posts

Hello, regarding my 150 Mak, i plan on storing it in my garage most of the time a least in the colder months where equilibrium will take longest, if i bring it straight outside i can see an issue with moisture but if i plan on driving somewhere should i be using a desiccant??

does it stay on the scope all the time when not using it in storage? thanks!

I keep mine on all the time when my scope is in storage (just remember to refresh the gel beads at regular intervals).

I've got this type - https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dew-prevention/flo-125-2-inch-desiccant-cap.html

The only problem I've encountered with this cap is that my Baader 'click-lock' doesn't fasten around the 2" part of the desiccant cap because the cap is not deep enough. So I have to put a 2"-1.25" adapter on.

If you are using a different designed cap or the 1.25mm part of this cap then they are great.
