A bit of Solar Ha before the snow comes

Its not the best day with some high cloud but at least the Sun is trying to peak through.

I noticed that there was a new sunspot AR2699 using the Lunt solar binos so I have grabbed the PST without the DS to see more detail. Well the Sun is not that active but at least there is a Sunspot with two smaller Umbra areas following although all is classified as AR2699.

There are signs of small Proms on the same side as AR2699.

OK not the best observing session but hopefully the snow/sleet etc will clear the air for tomorrow.

Just been looking and it looks the best AR for a while, seeing is poor but taken a couple of vid's between the clouds.

and then 2 min before its outa range it gives me this, its teasing me.

I'm happy getting the 1 frame.

Sitting on Swindon station wishing that I’d brought a coat with me!

It is interesting and nice to see some activity.
Tried my Continuum filter for the first time and happy with the result.
Green Solar needs some head adjustment though!

You will soon get used to it Alan. I rather prefer it now. Managed a short session myself today. AR 2669 looks as if it will be interesting to follow, weather permitting.

I’m surprised if the sun isn’t green! The filter does seem to help things.
