Newbie from NE UK

Good day all......

My name is Dave and originally from Newcastle area of UK.

I now spend a lot of time on a farm in Waterberg area of South Africa. We are at 1600m and have nice dark skies with no light pollution.

I bought an Orion Skyquest 8" dobinson telescope from a friend, and am now looking forward to dipping my toes into a new hobby.

An 8" scope will give you some lovely views at any time. But at 1600m with no light pollution ... AND the Magellanic (as opposed to English) clouds in your skies ... really envious.
