Lunar Eclipse 1-31-18

Recommended Posts

I woke up at 3:45am this morning to see the Lunar Eclipse. The penumbral stage wasn't very noticeable till the end, but the umbra was quite nice. As the shadow moved farther across the moon, I could see a rusty red glow in the darkness. The moon continued to fade until the whole moon was experiencing a solar eclipse (imagine that!). When totality arrived, the moon looked very eerie. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture this effect very well on camera. Too bad you can't see the shadows of all the eclipse viewers as they stand on the planet! It would be cool to see our shadows projected on the moon!
