Wales/Shropshire border hot tub holiday

It's that time of year again that we like to book our hot tub holiday and this year we have found this nice place near Knighton. Unfortunately I won't be able to fit my scope in as we now have the dog but I will be taking my bins to hopefully exploit the nice dark skies. The only question is do I buy a new tripod or just stick with my old wooden one that I have adapted a bit.

Nice area, please let us know what the sky is like there, i think it is not too far from the Spaceguard centre worth a visit.
