Does anyone have any 1st hand experience with this EP.  If this statement from the link below is true these must be very good to use.

What our customers say:

" I compared this eyepiece with my 22mm and 8mm LVW eyepieces. The zoom eyepiece was so high contrast. I couldn't tell if I was looking through my LVW or my Omegon zoom. "

R. Lehmann, amateur astronomer, and second chairman of the Buchloe Public Observatory.

Very similar in spec to this one at 50% of the price:

http://www.opticstar.com/Run/Astronomy/Astro-Accessories-Telescopes-Opticstar.asp?p=0_10_5_1_8_331

And also this William Optics zoom:

And the Skywatcher Hyperflex Mk 1 was the same spec I think.

Probably available under other brandings as well !

I have a 7.2 - 21.5 zoom which I believe is from the same manufacturer and it's surprisingly good. Not quite Vixen LVW good though.

I've seen the 7.5 - 22 variants discussed at times on this forum so sombody probably has one.

I've got this Opticstar zoom: http://www.opticstar.com/Run/Astronomy/Astro-Accessories-Telescopes-Opticstar.asp?p=0_10_5_1_8_330

which is even cheaper, but performs really well in my Lunt 50 - it's actually better than the Lunt zoom which I also owned. I normally don't use zoom eyepieces - only for H_alpha solar observing.

It's nice and light and sits permanently in my Lunt, all ready to go when the sun pops out!

I have the very same eyepiece and use it in my Lunt 50. I've also used it my other scopes and it does remarkably well

I'll have to try it in my other scopes, John. There are few pieces of kit that exceed my expectations (other than Tak), but this was certainly one of them. Amazing price.

Amazing price difference John - wonder if the coatings are different?

Unless you compare them side by side theres no way to tell :dontknow:

The one I mention above cost just £50 and seems to have very nice coatings but who knows the exact specs that the more expensive variants have ?
