Show us your Vixen Scope or mount

I can add this here aswell now, Tak on my Vixen GP mount, dual MT1 motors and DD3 controller. The pillar is also Vixen, puts the scope at a nice height but can still be carried around easily.

Really good to see so many of these old Vixen mounts still in use, and still looking almost as good as new!

I will do a line up of my GP, GP-DX and Sphinx side by side sometime soon.

After selling my old GPDX and Skysensor SS2K after years of service, I decided to stick with Vixen and bought a SXD2.  Very pleased with the SXD2 and Starbook Ten after 2 months. I bet Vixen don't sell many of these mounts in the UK, because of the uncompetitive £ . Also have a green GP mount with for a 4 inch refractor.

I thought I would post this here rather than in any of the other relevant 'Show us your....' threads as it is a Vixen Mount and Scope combo. This is my Peter Drew special 102mm PST mod on the Vixen GP mount and Vixen pillar. I was using the Mark IV binoviewers today just to try them out in Ha but normally use my supercharged TS ones in Ha. The Mark IVs were used with a x2.6 GPC and 40mm Celestron Omni plossls. The seeing wasn't up to much today, but still had some good views of the proms.

Hello Stu, the scope is a Tak CN212 being used in Cassegrain mode (F12.4). I do use it in Newtonian mode (F3.9) occasionally with a Paracorr. Bought in 2007, with the intention of doing some imaging in Newt mode, but never did get around to do any serious imaging.

Have just taken ownership of a used sphinx sxw, bought by previous owner 4 years a ago who then never used it..... the mount was in it's original packaging and the controller, c/w, cables etc were are still in their sealed cellophane wrapping. 

Great build quality and so far I really like the starbook though not used in anger yet. Think I might need to get the half pillar though (it ain't cheap!)

Very nice Craig! I have the same mount and like it very much. Haven't needed the pillar but my scopes are shorter than yours

I really like the design which puts the motors on the dec axis opposite the scope which means much less C/W to lug around.... also less cables too. Really well thought out mount I think. Only slightly bigger than a GP but feels like it could take longer/bulkier scopes than a GP could

My Vixen GP is my workhorse EQ mount. Bought it at least a decade ago and it gets regular use. I will take some pictures hopefully this week sometime.

I'd like to get a nice old Polaris mount too as a light-weight alternative for my smaller (classic) refractors.

My mid 1990s FL102 / 920s. Examples of this scope on certified optical benches have shown a Strehl Ratio of 0.988. From personal use its objective is practically flawless for visual observation. Aesthetically gorgeous visual presentation with outstanding colour correction and contrast.

I changed the original 6x30 viewfinder for a more practical RACI and changed the original focuser to a more solid and stable Moonlite:

I seem to have quite a collection of Vixen SP and GP mounts as well as a Sphinx.  Telescopes are a 102mm F10 achro and a 102mm F9  Flourite.  Sorry no pics but they are the same as others on this thread.   😀
