I remember back in 1981 I think, first Shuttle launch and we were all crowded round the big school TV on the trolley waiting for launch. It got delayed for a while, to another day and we missed it I think.

Let's all meet up again tonight then, hopefully we'll get to see the launch. All this fuss for about a 4min live video as the National Rec Office have said the video stream will go off before the fairings stop off.

I'm looking forward to the Falcon Heavy launch, so 25th Jan could be good, with FH and an Ariane 5 on the same day, potentially.

I noticed the mission description said nothing about the payload aside from the length of the fairing. Clearly the 'reconnaissance' payload is classified.

I think the thrust of this thread is that the Mission Controller needs a rocket up his solid fuel booster!

Still it's given us all a lift to watch it...
