PHD 2 won't recognise EQ5 mount

Recommended Posts

I need to ask few questions !!

1) did you install the ASCOM STANDARD ? https://ascom-standards.org/

2) Did you also install the EQASCOM driver ? https://sourceforge.net/projects/eq-mod/files/EQASCOM/EQASCOM_V200k_Setup.exe/download

3) Then, now it gets complicated,  how do you want to connect ? do you use USB > SERIAL adapter or via ST4? or how do you connect or attempt to connect it ?

bye

Martin

as above, you need ascom platform and the eqmod driver, when you bring up phd 2, select the eq5,eq6 mounts and it should work.

are you using windows 10 ? if so you`ll need to roll back the prolific driver in the device manager also, the driver has a date of 2006 if i remember correctly, windows 10 updates the prolific driver to 2016 or 2017 and that sometimes doesn't`t work with the older eq direct cables.

Hi

If you are using the ST4 interface rather than pulse guiding then select 'on camera' for the mount. Make sure the qhy5l-ii is set to 8-bit mode. PHD2 is well documented - https://openphdguiding.org/PHD2_User_Guide.pdf

Louise

Hi Louise, I've selected "on camera"  and tested in daylight today with the camera fitted in a 50mm stopped down finder scope.

Good picture as before but now I can operate the drive motors using the manual on screen guide pad.

Obviously had no stars to guide on so now need a clear sky!

Thanks for the help,

Keith
