I don't know why; but I have always found the open cluster the "lesser" of the deep sky objects. That said, I had one of my few "holy carp" moment with excellent seeing and the double cluster trough my William Optics Megrez 90 this summer.

What is the best strategy for imaging them? I'd guess lots and lots of short subs, and kappa-sigma (or similar) stacking to get a real flat, noise free image..?
