Iridium flare or meteor

Resized 40% of original single 3 minute sub from the barn door with 1100d and 40mm pancake lens. a slight stretch just to be able to post the image.

I think this is an iridium flare, caught going past Shadir in Cassiopeia. There is a very fine line trailing in to it and out of it. The first part of the bright bit is almost orange then going golden.

Makes a changes from aeroplanes.

It's a bit hard to be sure, but  if that's the double cluster lower down, that could be the right direction for a Geminid. I saw a meteor go straight through Cassiopeia the other evening and it was following a very similar track (but right through the W).

Yes that's the double cluster. That is going through half of the W. I'm unsure because of the trailing thin line into the bright bit and out of it do meteors have that, I didn't have any filter on the lens that night and one side of the bright bit the left side is much more orange coloured.

We are going to try and work out the speed it was going.

It does look like a flare. What time was it taken, should be able to look it up.

Globalstar MO64 went through there around that time.

There is a satellite pass, around mag +6.8 which follows exactly the right track at about 7.08pm. Globalstar M064, I think that must be it.

Same day at 7:37 pm slightly higher than Cassiopeia as I had wound the barn door back twice since the first shot. Only resized didn't do any adjustments, 3 minutes.

I had to look again to see the red dots outside of the main line. It's very high most over me are holding or landing for Gatwick.

Thank you for the area identification I've got about 7 images to stack here as part of my hopeful mosaic.

Skysafari. I'm more sure if that is the Pro or Plus version for having satellite information as well.

Yep, Skysafari 5 Pro I should think back then. I have 6 Pro now. Fantastic app.
