What did the postman bring?

I just realized that I didn’t have a finder for my new Starfield 102 scope. Remedied it by buying a Baader Sky Surfer III. Delivered today by the postie. Just need to  buy the finder shoe now DOH!🙄

No wonder they called them Tripods!😱😊

I heard the DPD van pull up and went to open the front door.   The driver slid the parcel from the front to the back of the van then hoiked it onto his shoulder and strolled down the path.  He placed the box carefully at my feet and exclaimed 'That was a bit heavy, glad I didn't have to walk too far.'
A small packet was taped to one end and unsuprisingly contained FLO's clouds along with a dew strap!  But it was the big box that held the exciting stuff.

And finally a family group.  On the left is an Ian King Ikorus 102ED, then a TS 127 Achro next to the Askar 130PHQ.  The Askar almost weighs the same as both the other two put together.  My two old scopes will be sold as I cannot see the Askar ever being removed once it has been mounted.

What a lovely trio of refractors.

But inside, there were these:

All I need now is a scope and tripod.....❤️

Look what's just arrived! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you and well done, @Mr Spock

No first light for a while: have to wait for the tripod.

And now:

IMG_20230331_140140_2.thumb.jpg.6df54d434b103899ff8a9ce57a26df1d.jpg

A SW 6x30 lightweight RA finder and an Oklop carry bag. I was a bit worried about the bag being big enough: the only one they do for 102mm scopes is for a f/l of 1000mm (the Starfield is 714) and I didn't want the scope to be rattling around in the bag. So I did a little research and found the bag for an EQ6 tripod was much nearer the right size.

It's been like Christmas today!

Not surprised that you couldn’t resist that little beauty given the glowing review that Mr Spock wrote about it the other day 👍🏻😊

I'd actually decided on a Starfield before that review..... let's just say nothing in it changed my mind!

I’m now the very lucky owner of this Leica Zoom. I sold my Baader zoom and Pentax XF zoom to help fund it. Can’t wait to try it out. I suspect it’s going to be best friends with my Baader VIP Barlow too.

When I had one I found the link in this post by @YKSE very helpful in working out the magnification combinations:

Just had one of those delivered myself this week. Even managed a quick look at the moon with it using the WO110. Razor sharp.

Thanks Stu! I saw it mentioned in quite a few of your reports which helped with the decision to buy it :)

Rather than mess about with counterweight shafts, etc, I decided to buy a Baader 1kg weight + dovetail clamp, which I've affixed to the L-bracket supplied with my new AZ GTiX mount. Baader stuff is pricey but SO well engineered: for such a basic item, it feels like it should belong on the JWST!

It won't balance my Starfield completely but should serve to take some of the strain caused by just mounting one scope.

I can't test much of this setup out till my tripod arrives! 😥

Just a small delivery today of a Lynx dew heater band for my Starfield and a Baader Q 2.25x barlow.

Have you already got a controller for the heater band or are you going to do without one?

Arrived today courtesy of FLO to make viewing with my longer ‘fracs easier when using my Sabre mount a Skywatcher extension pillar does the trick for both the cannons once nicely balanced on the mount.
