Did you manage to achieve good focus on this? I bought one a little while ago and had trouble getting a good focus at infinity.

I’ve just aligned this and focused on my usual distant TV transmitter mast - seems OK. Can be tricky to align using the adjustment screws if honest - one always seems too loose but eventually sorted. With my previous version I didn’t have any problem achieving focus on distant targets- moon, deep sky etc. using the focusing ring and then retightening, so hopefully this will be no different.

I put an ad for a lightweight losmandy mount tripod on abs for a “portable” visual rig using my Tal 200k and GM8 mount. This turned up. It’s not lightweight nor portable lol. But it is really beautiful (well ok it looks like a bit of oil rig- but a beautifully made bit of oil rig), and it looks unused. It’s monstrous- the legs are 3” diameter!!

It totally dwarfs the GM8 but i’ll use it with the G11 imaging rig which will free up the folding Losmandy LW mount i’ve been using up till now.

Strange it didn’t have any kind of foot other than the cut edge of the aluminium tubes so i’m 3d printing some feet to protect them.

Postman just delivered my new camera thanks very much to kon.

I won't have to use my phone anymore.

I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions on how to process the images as I haven't a clue20220624_095132.thumb.jpg.ab4016347b303d19802b33aae8e4d124.jpg20220624_095154.thumb.jpg.c8de7cab06c8474af3384243783126b6.jpg

It seems daunting at first but it becomes a very enjoyable experience and I have fun with it. I got the ASI 290MC in 2020 and getting the planets at high frame rate is just the best.

Here are a few of my results from last year, with very little practise.

I have the same - the most stable tripod I have ever used you won't be disappointed !

Not quite the postman, but picked up a 2nd hand OOUK VX10 today from @Ande - it looks great and I'm itching to try it. Got it collimated and worked out how to attach my starsense explorer phone holder to the tube rings, with a baader EQ clamp, a bit of delrin and a few bolts.

Just checked the weather, and contrary to my usual experience with new gear the weather forecast for Bristol looks set to give me a few of hours of clear sky to try it out :)

Tense wait to see if the weather holds!

Really really pleased with my latest purchase! Televue Starbeam, in working order as the originator said it may not so they sold it as spares or repair, it works!

and the price was really cool too! £89.95 delivered.

wow that's neat, so an RDF with a mirror to save having to crank your neck to look thru it, I take it?

That has me thinking if I can lob a spare prism onto one of mine to make it more useful (well, easier to use lol)...

FINALLY! Managed to buy a new Baader Morpheus 9mm. This completes my full set.

Your complete set looks awesome in that case.

Did you get the same ‘back in stock’ email I got from FLO earlier this week?  I also jumped as soon as I saw it.

Mine arrived today too, along with a new 2” dielectric diagonal 😊

The nice man from DPD just dropped this off to me

image.png.fab352981fcc108555e249ef88003991.png

Won't be for astro, just decided to upgrade from the walkabout/go-anywhere 18-270 that I had to the later 16-300 for a tad extra range (24-450 vs 27-405 eqv). Likely the last that model Tamron will make for the Sony mounts at least for a while from what's been reported so I figured grab a good one while it's available 🙂

I've never been able to justify an SQM to myself, given the infrequent use it will get.

But the auction gods smiled on me again, and I picked up this nearly new item at a healthy discount. It's only the basic (lensless) model, but it will be enough for me. The main purpose is to get an idea how (in)accurate those maps on the internet are. I also have a dark sky app on the phone, so it will be interesting to compare them.

I've been able to get an almost full set of ES 82 degree eyepieces over the last year from the Widescreen Centre. They seem to get small numbers in fairly often and they have an email alert service for when stock arrives.

That’s where I have sourced all mine from as well. Great service into the bargain.

I’ve already got the majority of them and I am not getting the 30mm due to them being bad for coma. I only need the 18mm and I have it pre ordered. Will you have to pay import duty on your American bought eyepieces?
