I received my new planetary camera, ZWO ASI462mc from @johninderby ; it came super well packaged. It may receive first light tonight if the clouds hold on .

Post some images if your skies stay clear.

Hopefully mine shouldn't take to long to arrive but knowing Irish Post it could be 2 weeks

Yesterday, I received a 7mm Nagler T6, which will complete my light set of parfocal eyepieces (24 Pan, Nagler 13 and 9). This set is used with my 12" f/6 dob (helical focuser) and 4" Tak +/- VIP barlow. :)

See in the imaging section 😊. According to the post office it should be 3-5 days, enough for the clouds to disappear when you get it 😉

Awesome set up Craig. Looking forward to more of your planetary images this autumn.

How does it (and you!) cope with the focuser on the inside? Is that just for balance and will you pivot round for observing?

I actually use mine with the focuser on the inside, it allows me to rest a finger or two on the top-boss of the mount to keep my head stable. On the outside, especially at higher elevations, the lack of finger or hand rest is inconvenient for me. ( bringing to attention of @CraigT82 too)

Just this minute delivered by postwoman, an extender for my az-gti . Funny, when the az-gti arrived it was much bigger than I was expecting. And this pillar is much smaller than I expected!

anyway, many thanks to @heliumstar!

I could have told you the size - taller than a mug of tea or coffee, but clearly shorter than a bottle of wine…..

Although I’ve got a lot via the postman and some of my things I’ve got delivered for astronomy have been unusual (eg a hat box) this is my first post here.

A steel EQ5 type tripod from @Stu1smartcookie. Hopefully I’ll now have reduced wobbles compared to the old aluminium affair which this will replace. Thanks again Stu!

Postman just delivered my new camera thanks very much to kon.

I won't have to use my phone anymore.

I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions on how to process the images as I haven't a clue20220624_095132.thumb.jpg.ab4016347b303d19802b33aae8e4d124.jpg20220624_095154.thumb.jpg.c8de7cab06c8474af3384243783126b6.jpg

Enjoy it. It is a nice little camera and it got me hooked into lunar and planetary imaging.

A little Celestron prism. Anti reflection coatings are quite good, at first I wasn't sure it was a prism. Initial impressions are favorable for the price, only real gripe is the thumb screws should be 2mm lower to avoid colliding with the bottom of wider eyepieces.

The 94115-A prism diagonal from Celestron is actually a really good optic, the casing and single set screw is a little basic but perfectly functional. They used to be supplied as standard with all the C8's back in the day, I've had several over the years and with good results when used with lightweight 1.25" eyepieces. I currently have the Vixen branded version which also works well and has changed little over the years.

Perhaps you could replace it with a narrow head thumb screw?

Not sure if it was the same problem l had see pic. l fitted parfocal rings to my 2 main eyepieces and that sorted the problem.

So you’re venturing into the dark arts Dave? I wish you all the best on this journey. I’m getting ready to take my own first tentative steps into AP as well. I think I’ll go the DSLR route though. ATB

I’ve had one of these before and do miss it - will be taking its place on the Celestron Dob 😀

Did you manage to achieve good focus on this? I bought one a little while ago and had trouble getting a good focus at infinity.
