What did the postman bring?

Congratulations John, a nice take on a legendary mount.

As you say, very smooth, lightweight and well engineered. An RA drive will finish off the setup nicely, great for high power comfy observing😀.

Enjoy!

Dave

Nice to see it arrived with Beer as well, shame it's been opened before you could get at it 😉

Something about Vixen kit, keeps you coming back to it, as you say decent Japanese build.

Well flying in the face of the thread title - Post-person did not deliver this, but neither did Yodel!
Had to collect because HM Border Force had been and opened the parcel, then rewrapped the many layers that
the sender had applied, now all in nice Home Office White and Purple tape.

This Eyepiece has been sitting with its former owner awaiting my return to a semblance of normal health.
The time was now right for it to wing its way across the North Sea to me.
Many thanks Mike (iPeace) for being a good friend and holding onto it for so long 😀

Mike leant me this in 2018, before he had even received it himself.
I was smitten with it and told him so and hoped to find such a nice one myself, well I have now,
but I did not it expect to be the wonderful one I had borrowed.

Joins the wonderful 19mm and 27mm Panoptics that I already own.
All in my case bar one EP (Vixen) is all TeleVue now.

Of course it is cloudy today.

Oh yes, funniest bit was I genuinely forgot to tell my wife I had bought it,
so the parcel was a surprise to her.
I always talk to her on kit purchases, but was otherwise engaged with things that I plain forgot.

What an amazing coincidence! Some Green & Black arrived a my house too. I had also “forgotten” to discuss the purchase with my better half....

Paul

I'm constantly talking telescope gear with my better half which, admittedly, must be very tiresome.  :)    However, due to the information overload she has stopped being surprised when the postman arrives with a new packet.  At least when it comes to eyepieces and other small gear.   Not sure what would happen if I order a big dob though.

UPS man just dropped off a box of rocking horse ....

Thanks to @michael8554 for spotting it and thinking of me! All that remains is to hopefully install, configure and fix the bolts that almost let the scope slide off the wedge last night

Should be fun!

Yay! My first clouds sticker from FLO.

20190717_131940.thumb.jpg.6a20ba158e7f607b11e3f18353cc85cc.jpg

Unfortunately it sent clouds ahead of itself about 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen a clear sky since! :(

Anyhow, after being so very impressed with the Skywatcher Planetary 4mm,  which held its own against the Vixen SLV on Saturn and Jupiter I felt a 5mm FL would give me the best views of Jupiter which were bordering on being a bit soft, so it arrived today.....

20190717_132352.thumb.jpg.9e5f0f9b0657cbebb3329c80e00e0031.jpg

I really don't know why these aren't more popular, they really do perform far better than their low cost would suggest.

Hoping the forecast for clearer skies at the end of the week actually materialise.

I got a new eyepiece today, via FLO, of course.

Heard and read so much good stuff regarding these eyepieces and my wife said she would buy me one to try. It feels good; light and compact; I am looking forward to trying it out. Of course, as you can see, it came with the obligatory clouds and rain. I am sure it has been asked loads before and it is a decent marketing ploy from FLO, but does anyone know which of them @FLO is the rain wizard?

A half decent song, with appropriate lyrics and great drumming. Bringing magic to our land? :rolleyes2:

Ever the optimist decided to have a go at some planets 😂

ZWO ADC and Astronomik 642IR pass filter to give a couple of options.

The sticker on the box was right as it arrived with a liberal amount of cloud and rain.

A TS 70mm carbon tube Ed refractor. Just added my 50mm guide scope, and longer dovetail bar and awaiting the Az-GTI with eq wedge and field flatner for the above scope. Hopefully it'll be a nice grab and go scope for holiday's, etc. It has a nice rotating focuser too.

Post Person attended yesterday and Thursday with packages from W&W Astro and 7DayShop.

5v to 12V step up lead, will run a 50cm dew tape, its destined for a 40cm one.

IMG_3478.thumb.JPG.19ea18cd083b01c345861300a6c0e5ed.JPG

Anker Power Bank, 2 USB outlets, 3W output on each, so good for the above and a second supply to a Telrad.

If the project fails badly, then I will use the power bank for charging my ageing iPhone
and revert to the old lead acid battery for the dew heaters.
Idea is to lighten the load when setting up.
And I like shiny new things as we all do!!

Looks good Alan, you just cost me £7 for one of those, very handy. Thanks!
