Thanks to @BillP's review & other favourable opinions here on SGL, I have added a Baader Morpheus 17.5mm.

Be great to see some first light reports with some of your new kit Richard.

5 inch stainless steel ruler?

Sorry guys, I didn't have a ruler available, so I placed the caliper in the photo for scale. The " item " is in the leather case.

Looks like a hand held monocular or pocket telescope, noticing the clip.

Russian or German made possibly?

We have a winner !

Now I will spare everyone the suspense. I finally found a mint condition example of this out of production optic, which I have been looking for for a long long time.

couple of days ago postie brought me a 5-6 volt Ubec, this takes a voltage from a lipo battery and reduces it to 5 or 6 volt dc, i have set it to 6v, soldered some connection plugs, taken the power lead from my skywatcher dual drive battery pack, and now have a light weight power supply for my eq5 motors, using an 1800mah 2s lipo, this will power the mount for a good few sessions with plenty of power, then just 40 mins on the charger and good to go again

Had to look up what an UBEC is! Handy little device :)

Eastman, that is one nice scope you have.
Something I rather like the idea of myself.
Please post a first light report when you get out with it.

Thanks Alan,

First light report will follow.

But first I have to wait for the clouds to disappear.

I was worried on two fronts while waiting for this new SW 350P flextube to arrive yesterday - the weight and having to install the primary mirror myself - the instruction manual goes up to 12” and stops there , so you need to go to google images and look at the assembled set up ...

Thankfully , I had an expert on hand to help with the build : Ellie , my niece , aged 3 ... and instead of the standard baked beans tin for scale , I have used a 3 year old in the pics for scale ...

Forecast is clear spells tonight , so hopefully I will get a chance to use it ...
