Is it? With the FPL-53 glass? I could swear I saw it as FPL-51.

It’s identical to the Starfield 102 with FPL53 and Lanthanum lenses

Yes, cheers for that. Thinking about it, I have a vague recollection that there are two versions of this scope, one with FPL-51, though I don't know if that's the TS or Altair one.

Yes, identical as others have said, although the TS has a finder bracket included. I prefer the Starfield logo though. TS do another doublet line including a 102 F7 which they refer to as ED and not Photoline. The glass is apparently from Ohara but no mention as to specific types.

There are 2 versions of the TS Optic 102 f/7 , one says ED, that is the FPL51 model, the other is the TS Optics  Photo Line  102 APO which uses the FPL53  lass which is the one I have. They look identical.

Time to see what all the fuss is about with 82° FOV with a newly purchased 16mm Nirvana.  Massive thanks to everyone who helped me choose it.

Also arrived with a no8 yellow for some testing on planetary/lunar with my higher powers.

And to round it off an svbony guidescope bar which means I can free up a dovetail.  Magic.

I've given up waiting for an ES92/17 (to go with my ES92/12) and am excited to try the XW16.5 instead....

Spoiler alert... I suspect you will adore this eyepiece 😀

I love mine so much that I'm getting the XW23 too, and have already sold my XW20, XW30, Masuyama 16 & 26 and my XW14 is up for sale 😁

A full set of XW (3.5, 5, 7, 10, 16, 23 & 40) will now be my main eyepiece set going forward, with the APM SuperZoom 7.7-15.4, Nagler 3-6 & ES24 for the lightweight setup 👍

I think you might me right 😉

I already have an N22T4 that I love, so I won't be rushing to get an XW23 - but I do already have the XW 7, 10 and 40 so I know the range and rate them very highly.  If the 85 degree ones can match the 70s then I'll be very happy.

After much indecision I finally ordered a 350mm focal length quad refractor from Altair which arrived today. As ever very quick dispatch from Altair and the scope was well packed. My only disappointment was that they packed the obligatory cloud cover which looks like it could las a week!

The scope seems very well made and should give me excellent wide views when partnered with my  Altair 26C camera and I hope it will provide a good travel scope as well as complement my Esprit 100. Here it is on my Ioptron IEQ30 pro mount.

Cheers

Ian

Well it's more substantial than I expected. Glad it's arrived after quite a wait just in time for a prolonged period of cloud.

I wanted one of these APM super zoom since they were launched. I have to say it is reassuringly weighty and has the ooze of class when picked up, the same as when I hold a Tv or Nikon eyepiece.
