Hi guys I'm Anthony.

Just bought myself a 80ED on neq5 from  Really glad with my purchase thus far.

i also have a datyson T7 camera and canon eos 1300d for imaging

I've been into astronomy for 20 years but only invested recently in this setup. I used to have an old 114/900 from my teenage days before that.

Hope to improve my imaging skills deep sky and planetary ?

Clear skies everybody

Hi Anthony from land down under

In this forum you travel the world, without leaving the comfort of your arm chair, and meet some amazing people on your travels

Great choice in ED80 with NEQ5 mount

You will get a lot of enjoyment out of that, depending on light pollution in your area

Hi Anthony, I'm about three and a half hours to your north in the Pre-Alpine Baronnies range just north of Sisteron. There is quite a lot of astronomy hereabouts, with the professional Observatoire de Haute Provence, a significant amateur community around Puimichel and then my own astro-facilities and those (rather more lavish!) of Marc Bretton at the Observatoire des Baronnies.

It should be pretty easy to get up to a dark site from Nice, I imagine.

Hi Anthony

Welcome to SGL.

I used to live in Antibes. The hills behind Nice are great for Astronomy.

I don't know if they still do, but the local authorities used to set aside small areas for astronomy up in the hills.

I watched the Leonids in 1998 from just such a place. That was a "Wow!"

Cheers

Ian
