A warm welcome to you, SGL is a great source for all aspects of Astronomy. Much knowledge
is within the membership, and any question or queries you may have,
will be answered here, all you need to do is post your question in an appropriate section.

What part of America are you living in?
If you are near to any Desert region, such as in Arizona, then the skies
should be highly suited to Astronomy, both for Observation, and Astro. Imaging.
Perhaps there is an Astronomical Society based in your Town/City, who would offer
you good advice regarding suitable locations for you.
Best Wishes.

Welcome to the lounge

On the opposite side of the Pacific Ocean to you, and south west as well, below the equator

Local clubs are a wealth of knowledge, and hold public viewing nights as well

My own club, we also have loan telescopes for members

Greetings, starlight8, and welcome aboard SGL - it's nice to have you join us!

Your question will draw many responses from the US - as we have many members from this country. And questions are most welcome in these many forums. We love 'em! It's what we're here for.

We could use a place to post a "How to find good Dark-Sky Sites Near You" thread. There may already be one.....

Until, Starry Skies!

Dave
