New setup

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

After seeing this setup in a photo posted by somebody on facebook I decided to try it out too and I'm very happy I did.
The clouds and the fact that it was Sunday evening (had to wake up at 5.30 am to go to work) only permitted me to take a limited number of frames but I will definitely revisit this target with the same setup.
So here it is.
TS65 quatro astrograph with my Canon 700d on one side, Canon 450d with the 18-55mm kit lens at 55mm f5.6 on the other side and my 9x50 finder-guider with the Lacerta Mgen autoguider between them. Sync dithering for multiple cameras in APT
Target on the TS65 astrograph: IC1805, Heart nebula
Targets on the Canon 55mm f5.6: IC1805 (Heart Nebula), IC1848 (Soul Nebula) and C14 (The Double cluster in Perseus)
Even though I could only save 3x900sec ISO800 from the TS65 and 13x300sec ISO800 from the Canon 55mm f5.6 I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Nice set up, and great image, but Can I ask how you achieved balance as the left hand side of that dual set up looks much heavier than the right side... also the front to back balance as with a dual side but side rig you need to balance on 3 axis, it’s something I’m having issues with...??  :)

I used a dual saddle plate on the right hand side because it's heavier. The guider can slide a bit from side to side on the losmandy plate too. As for the front to back balance, it wasn't really perfect. I got it right but it was close to the end of the vixen dovetail. I need a longer vixen dovetail for the TS65. If I do that it should balance nicely.
