How would a compass work on the moon?

Recommended Posts

Navigate by the stars as we did on Earth in the early days. The only difference
is, the moons sidereal period is 27.3 days, I'ts Orbital period around the Earth.
That rotation is synchronous, which is why the same lunar face  is always seen from earth.
The rotation of the moon can only be observed from outside the Moon Earth system

Earth rotates on It's axis once in 24 hours, so the stars appear to  move pretty quickly around the night sky.
Only one star appears not to , that is Polaris, the North Star, but it does describe a one degree
circle as it is not directly in line with Earth's polar axis.
