Nice galaxy in Perseus viewed for the first time tonight. Relatively bright and better from my garden than many Messiers 

Seek it out! 😊 you'll be glad you did.

It is a very nice target, indeed! In my notes, I scribbled: "looks like a mini-Andromeda Galaxy" :) 

I wasn't sketching yet back then, thanks for bringing this one back to memory!

Thanks for the sketch Shane. I've just been looking at NGC 1023 in the 4" refractor. Not the same grandeur, but at 50x could see a clear elongation - it's a nice galaxy to see in a small telescope.
