Lunar image for "Intl. Observe the Moon Night"

Last night there was an amazing, bright near half moon. Even though I was out there to try to see satellites through the telescope, I couldn't resist pointing the telescope that direction and using a smartphone to grab a few shots. I was mesmerised by the sterile beauty of the lunar mountains and the shadows of the crater walls. I even discovered the neat trick of manually increasing my focal length by manually holding the lens about a foot away from the telescope, and then adjusting the focus to suit. It was like using a large magnification barlow, and I lost some clarity, but it was really neat to see those mountains even closer.
