SLR Canon advice please

Hi everyone,

I have a 6" refractor mounted on an HEQ5 with belts and GOTO.

I own a Canon EOS 30D I wanted to try taking pictures with the camera but I am concerned about the weight of this metal camera putting a strain on the mount and belt drives. Is there a lighter more suitable camera "CANON" for telescope use, or should I be looking to buy the new tracker type cameras.

I doubt the camera will overload the mount. The telescope will need to be rebalanced to accommodate the weight of the camera but that is all. The mount has a payload of about 11kg for imaging so if the weight of the telescope + camera is less than 11kg you will be ok.
