Pythagoras Crater, 4th October 2017

Recommended Posts

My best Pythagoras Crater to date using the Celestron Nexstar 8i SCT with focal extension tubes pushing a focal length of around 2500mm with the diagonal. Camera used was the ZWO ASI224MC with a Celestron UV/IR cut off filter. Captured in SharpCap at 1304x976 resolution, 4788 total frames captured in a 3 minute video, 5% (239 frames) stacked. Aligned and stacked in AutoStakkert3, wavelets in RegiStax6 and edited in PaintDotNet. The image has been cropped, converted to monochrome with some level adjustment and sharpened slightly with high pass sharpening.

I was quite happy with the result as conditions were not great (when are they ever) and surprised I'd captured some detail on the side of the central mountain in the center of the Pythagoras Crater. All done in the backyard Mandurah, coastal south west corner of Western Australia.
