SN2017gxq in NGC 4964 at mag 13.6

Recommended Posts

Following up on this post

I checked out the latest supernova page and found the latest report on SN2017gxq:

http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/supernova.html#2017gxq

At 13.6 it could well be within reach of my scope, but the weather must cooperate.

There is also a Type CV (cataclysmic variable) AT2017HAW listed at 13.1, but that is in Sagittarius, at declination -30, so will be hard to spot

Thanks for the alert Michael. I'll get my 12" dob on this one at the next (dark) opportunity. I had look for the comet that Mark mentions but couldn't find it with my ED120 the night before last. Lots of moonlight about then though.
