Ian, in 2013 had 80% eclipse where I was on the Goldcoast, Queensland, Australia. Local university invited club belong to, to set up scopes for their student

Some of our members went up to Cairns, where had total eclipse

Observed transit of Venus as well in 2012, and club members had over 30 scopes set up parkland overlooking Pacific Ocean

Lot of the club members were imaging, and I left my scope visual for members of the public to observe

This coming Saturday night, club is conducting public viewing night same location

Club also does presentations for schools, space badge scout/guide movement

Find it very rewarding

Cheers
