Ravenous Posted September 21, 2017 Share Posted September 21, 2017 There's a more recent image here: https://public.nrao.edu/news/2017-alma-ring-fomalhaut/ The ring is icy stuff (from ALMA), the star is in the central blob (which is not resolved here), the blue details are from a Hubble image. The darkened central bit is caused by a disc used to occult the bright starlight, to prevent it swamping the rest of the Hubble image. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
