Planetary camera

Hey again,

What is the best or one of best cameras for planetary?

Not asking about the scope because that is already discussed before and sure one of those scopes good for planetary, but this is a pure question about camera only regardless which scope, most likely it is SCT or Mak anyway.

I have a feeling that the 'best' camera will be determined by the scope, because it comes down to matching the resolution of the scope and the size of the pixels of the camera (unless I have got it wrong).

As Demon has said it will always be down to getting the best match. For planets it will between pixels and focal length, based on the dawes limit of your optics I think. you don't want to "undersample" a planet whatever the conditions.

The Asi120mc you have is a very capable planetary camera.

Typically, you use a Barlow or tele-centric lens (like a PowerMate) to match the focal ratio to the pixel size, so many scope-camera combinations can be made to work. I use an ASI224MC, which I really like.

Well, i forgot to say that i will buy a Barlow for sure, i have one but the cheap, but sure i will buy another one such as TV Powermate, thus i can use the camera fine with those scopes, but even without Barlow, those cameras are just fine, i will buy one to test with my smallest cheap scope before i welcome the big one.
